MARKS OF IDENTITY


I. There are over 400 different religious groups in America today. There are more that 5,000 different forms of religion in the world.

1. It is not possible to study all of these.
   
2. It is not possible to learn each in detail and find its good points and weaknesses.
   
3. How would you go about finding the "one" religious group that comes closer to the New Testament church than the rest of the choices?
   

II. Religions have split, divided and branched out over a wide variety of issues.

1. Baptists - 40
   
2. Pentecostal - over 100
   
3. Lutherans - 27
   
4. Methodists - 30
   
5. Churches of Christ - at least 17
   

III. The answer is: Find the Marks of Distinction

1. Worship
   
   1. When?
      
   2. How?
      
   3. What?
      
2. Autonomous?
   
3. Bishops and Deacons?
   
4. Ministers?
   
5. Plan of Salvation
   
6. Go until they do not match with the New Testament
   
7. Is my congregation the N. T. church?
   
8. Could others be closer than we are?
