TITLE: Jesus is coming

INTRODUCTION:
Jesus is coming again. John 14:3
Among most religious people there is little dispute about His coming.
There is much discussion about:
- When will he return?
- What will happen when he returns?
- Are there signs of his return?
Here are the events that will take place at the end of time.
Christ will return
Christ promised to return. John 14:3
The time of His coming is unknown. Matthew 24:36; Mark 13:32
Christ will descend and we will rise to meet Him. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
Dead will be raised
Many believe that death is the end of things. Not true.
Here is what happens at death. Ecclesiastes 12:7
At the 2nd Coming, there will be a resurrection. John 5:28-29
Only one resurrection of both righteous and wicked. Acts 24:15
The new body will be immortal, spiritual, eternal.
We do not know what this new body will look like. 1 John 3:2
Change the living
There will be people living when the Lord comes. They will be changed.
1 Corinthians 15:51-52
Flesh and blood cannot enter heaven. 1 Corinthians 15:50
Our body is corruptible and mortal. New body will be incorruptible and immortal.
Bring this present world to an end
The earth is only temporary.
The world will be destroyed. 2 Peter 3:10
The judgment
All who have ever lived will be at the judgment.
- 2 Corinthians 5:10 - For we must ALL appear before the judgment seat
- 2 Timothy 4:1 - Will judge the living and dead at his appearing
Solomon's wisdom - Ecclesiastes 12:13-14
Small and great - Revelation 20:12
Each person will be judged individually. Romans 14:11-12
Christ will be the judge. John 5:22; Romans 2:16
The Word of God (Bible) will be the standard of judgment. John 12:48
The kingdom will be delivered up to God
The Kingdom is the church. Matthew 16:18-19
The Lord's Kingdom is not of this world. John 18:36
Our citizenship is in heaven. Philippians 3:20
The Bible rejects the idea that Christ will come to set up a kingdom on earth.
When Christ comes again, His kingdom will end - not start. 1 Corinthians 15:24
The reign of Christ will end
Christ is now reigning. 1 Corinthians 15:24-28
At His resurrection and ascension to heaven, Christ was given dominion, glory, and a kingdom. Daniel 7:13-14
