TITLE: Why not 3 churches?
TEXT: Mark 9:1-8
PROPOSITION: Jesus built one church of which all should be members.
QUESTION: Why?
KEY WORD: Wrongs
SCRIPTURE READING: Same
INTRODUCTION:
- Peter suggests - 3 tabernacles (churches, places to worship the same God)
- God rejects the idea. Jesus the only one to be worshipped.
- Many claim one as good as another, all are slices of the same pie.
- Denominationalism is WRONG!
Lack of Unity
John 17:20-21
1 Corinthians 1:10
Denies oneness of the church
Matthew 16:18
Ephesians 4:4-6
Colossians 1:18
Rejects the Bible as authority

Puts councils, creeds, conventions, customs = Bible
Something in every denomination that contradicts the Bible
Instrumental music - Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16
Infant baptism - Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38
Saved before baptism - 1 Peter 3:21, Acts 22:16
Sprinkling - Romans 6:4; Colossians 2:12
Contradicts the gospel
Galatians 1:8-9 - preach any other gospel
Many gospels being preached today
Denies what Jesus taught about salvation
Matthew 7:21-23 - Call him Lord, not obey him
Luke 6:46 - Why call him Lord and not do what he says?
Removes Jesus as head
Ephesians 1:22-23
Colossians 1:18
Conclusions:
Either Bible is wrong OR denominationalism is wrong.
A man can do everything the Bible teaches and NEVER belong to a denomination.
Our goal is to be a Christian period. Nothing added; only a Christian.
