The Prayer we didn’t write

Luke 11:1-13

1.     Start with God

a.     We are tempted to start with self

2.     Reverence – Gone from many lives

a.     National anthem, flag, police

b.     School, Lord’s Day

c.     God – “man upstairs”

3.     Daily bread (8 words)

a.     Physical needs – biggest part of prayer today

b.     4 times as much on our spiritual needs

c.     Admit it – we already have more “stuff” than we can store

4.     Forgive us our sins

a.     Hard to admit

b.     We excuse sin as – little, sickness, I goofed, euphemisms

c.     For many – this is a PS to their prayer

5.     Deliver us from evil

a.     We all need help – now and then

b.     We don’t like to admit we need help
