PROPOSITION: We must be ready for judgment day.

QUESTION: How?

KEY WORD: Charges

SCRIPTURE READING: Same

INTRODUCTION:

The Bible teaches much about the Day of Judgment.

Today I want to make three points about this day.

All will be present.

  1. Text – alive and dead will be there.

  2. John 5:28-29 28Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice 29and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.

  3. 2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

  4. Revelation 20:12-1312And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. 13The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works.

We must WATCH – Matthew24:42 Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.

W – ORK for the night is coming.

John 9:4 I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.

A – LERT because we do not know when.

Matthew 24:42 Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.

T – IME IS AT HAND

1 Peter 4:17-18 17For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18Now “If the righteous one is scarcely saved,Where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?”

C – OME AT ANY TIME

Revelation 22:12, 20 And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.

20He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.”

H – IDING IS NOT POSSIBLE.

Revelation 6:14-17 14Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place. 15And the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the commanders, the mighty men, every slave and every free man, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains, 16and said to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! 17For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”

(Note: Stop song leader before last verse is sung.)

Tomorrow is like the last verse of this song.

  1. We sang 1-3 – You were ready to sing the 4th verse.

  2. Someone may have been thinking – I will respond on the last verse.

  3. Many wait until the 11th hour and die at 10:30.

  4. Even though we will not sing another verse –
You may be baptized any time, day or night.
Salvation is not limited to church services.
