INTRODUCTION:
Over 300 years ago pilgrims struggled to survive the harsh winter
William Brewster – plate of clams and cold water – said he was grateful to God “for the abundance of the sea and the treasures hid in the sand.”
Pilgrims had
a custom of placing 5 kernels of corn on each plate.
Each person would pick up a kernel and express appreciation for something
Story of family – 5 kernels one each plate – small boy – thanks for (1) daddy, (2) mommy, (3) sister, (4) pet dog, - (5) he was thankful there are only 5 kernels of corn
In our text, God mentions 5 kernels of corn for us to think about this Thanksgiving.
