Blessed Assurance

1 John 5:13

Introduction

  1. Do you know (have assurance) of your salvation?

  2. Many are so convinced of the possibility – they live in the probability of being lost.

  3. Most Christians don't KNOW – saved or lost

  4. Many teach eternal security – we live with doubt and insecurity

  5. There are two sets of scriptures

    1. Some denominations teach eternal security – they preach from one list

    2. Those who believe it is possible to fall away – teach from another list

    3. Today – I combine those lists for balance and truth

A 1 Peter 1:3-5 3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 5who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
