    3. Someone who is specially good.

    1. Who is a saint?

    2. How can I become one?

What is a saint?

  1. The word – saint

    1. Same word as holy, sanctified

    2. A saint = a holy one

    3. Consecrated, separated, dedicated

  2. Illustration - 6th commandment – remember Sabbath – keep it holy

    1. This day was to be separate, dedicated to God

    2. A saint is separate from the world, dedicated to God

  3. In the Old Testament

    1. Aaron was a saint – Psalm 106:16

    2. God's people – Deuteronomy 32:2-4

  4. In the New Testament

    1. Members of local churches (congregations)

    2. Jerusalem, Rome, Corinth, Ephesus, - many others

  5. Those who behave in a holy manner – Ephesians 5:3-4 - 3But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; 4neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.

How does one become a saint?

  1. By being consecrated, separated, dedicated to God = Saved

    1. 1 Corinthians 6:11 – And such were some of you. But you are washed, but you are sanctified, you you are justified in the name of our Lord Jesus.

    2. Titus 3:5 - not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,

  2. By becoming a Christian

    1. Repent = a change of direction, change of mind, decide to follow God – dedication to God

    2. Deciding to live a life for God – not for sin or self

Conclusion:

  1. God wants you to follow Him – dedicated, separated from the world

  2. Are you ready to become a saint? You can do that today.
