TITLE: Spoken About Faith

TEXT: Romans 1:8-10

PROPOSITION: Faith can not be a secret thing, it must be seen, observed, spoken about.

  1. We often talk about faith.

  2. What is faith? I know – Hebrews 11:1

  3. Let's get deeper –

    1. Faith is MORE than a mental exercise

    2. Faith involves more than deciding some information is true or correct

  4. Our faith MUST be seen, observed by others, followed, imitated

Your Faith is ACTION

  1. Study Hebrews 11 – By faith (name) ACTION VERB

  2. James 2:18 But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.

Your Faith is SEEN

  1. You may not realize it – but others are watching

  2. They notice your faith – or lack of faith

  3. They see how you handle situations

  4. In Wal-Mart, the bank, the gas station, work, social settings

  5. Others at this church know all about your faith – strong or weak

Your faith is DISCUSSED

  1. Not just noticed – it is discussed – good or bad

  2. It is spoken of – when you are not around

Your faith is KNOWN

  1. Visitors who stop in – here at church – present or absent

  2. Visitors to your home -

  3. Family, friends, co-workers, strangers

You know about the faith of OTHERS

  1. Larry Little, other missionaries

  2. Others in your family – tough times, hardship, health problems

  3. Heard about the church in:

    1. A mission point

    2. In this area

Conclusion:

  1. Just like you know of the faith of those in Rome - -

  2. Others know about your faith

    1. What do they know?

    2. What are they saying?

    3. 2 Corinthians 3:2-3a – You are our epistle written in our hearts, know and read by all men: 3 clearly you are an epistle of Christ
