WHEN TO GO TO A BROTHER FIRST

Matthew 18:1-17

  1. Personal wrong – lied, cheated, gossiped, swindled

  2. Not a public wrong – personal – private – keep it that way

  3. First privately – no response?

  4. Take one or two – as witnesses – no response?

  5. Make it public


Matthew 5:23-24

  1. If you are the one who did the wrong

  2. You can not worship until the matter is settled

  3. Go – confess – repent – reconcile

  4. Now you can worship


WHEN NOT TO GO THE THE BROTHER FIRST

Galatians 2:4-5

  1. Doctrinal Error taught

    1. Many hold strange views – some wrong

    2. When they begin to spread the error – DANGER

  1. Public knowledge

    1. DUI in the newspaper

    2. Many are aware – Question – How many know?

  2. Cause Harm to the Church

    1. Grumble – Gripe – Spread false statements about the church

    2. Evenif true – don't hang dirty laundry for world to see

    3. Speak rebellion against elders

  3. Leadership needs to know and/or act

    1. Some matters the elders need to know / act upon

    2. Don't allow it to fester, build – until an explosion
