TITLE:  Immoral Society and the Church

INTRODUCTION:

  1. I don’t need to tell you about the decline in morals
  2. How should the church respond?

 

Definition of Terms

  1. Morality – “manners or customs, morals, relating to or capable of making a distinction between right and wrong in conduct”
  2. Today, many reject the Law of God (Bible) and try to set their own rules.

 

Diagnosis

  1. Erosion of home, family, and marriage – Divorce rates up 200% since 1960.
    Divorce is at an all-time high, Marriage is at an all-time low
  2. Pornography – tons published each year, internet rakes in millions, movies, music videos, and magazines – desensitize us
  3. Homosexuality – legalizing same-sex marriage
  4. Pleasure – sports, movies, TV
  5. Disrespect for God – courts, atheists

 

Prescription

  1. Righteousness exalts a nation – Psalm 14:34
  2. War against the flesh – 2 Corinthians 10:3-6
  3. Go back to the Bible
    1. Respect for Scripture
    2. Respect for authority
    3. Regarding moral purity, holiness and godliness – Titus 2:11-15
    4. Plan of salvation
  4. 2 Timothy 2:22
