Things Job Lost
All 10 children – 7 sons, 3 daughters – 1:18-19
Material prosperity – 1:13-17
His health – 2:7-8
Support of his wife – 2:9;

She should have been a “helpmeet” - not a
“hurtmeet”
His love of life – 3:1-3; 11-12 (He wants to die to escape)
Fellowship of the community – 12:4; 16:20; 30:10
Love and support of his family and friends – 16:2; 19:14; 19:17; 19:19
His faith in God's PRESENT righteousness
6:4 – shooting arrows at him
9:17 – multiplying wounds without cause
10:10 – curdling him like cheese
16:9 – persecuting, gnashing him with teeth
16:11 – cast him into hands of wicked
16:12 – take by neck, dashing him to pieces

Job felt God had done him wrong.
He does not believe that God was right and just in allowing the suffering.
He believes in the ultimate and final righteousness of God.
But he does not believe in the present righteousness.
