INTRODUCTION:

  1. We studied how Job handled his pain and suffering

  2. We have looked at what Job lost – pain, and suffering

  3. Now we must understand what Job KEPT


Four Things Job Did NOT Lose

Personal integrity / personal righteousness

  1. Not holier-than-thou attitude

  2. He examined his life – noting this bad – no major sins

  3. No murder, adultery, or violation of the commands of God

  4. Listen to Job -

    1. 6:10 – not denied God

    2. 13:15 – maintain my ways before him

    3. 13:18 – I know that I am righteous

    4. 23:12 – I have not gone back from his commands

    5. 27:5-6 – I will not put away my integrity


Belief in God's Ultimate and Final Righteousness

  1. 23:10 – I will come out as pure gold

  2. 19:25-27

    1. Redeemer lives

    2. I will live again

    3. After death – I will see God

    4. God will not be a stranger

  3. He did not understand the present situation

  4. But he never lost the ultimate faith in God being good


Belief in the Existence of God

  1. 19:25 – I know that my Redeemer lives

  2. In time of pain, trouble, distress – many lose faith in God

  3. “If there is a God, why did He do this to me?”

  4. If God is all-powerful – why the tsunami? Fire? Earthquake?

  5. Psalm 14:1 – fool says there is no god

  6. Romans 1:20 – fools deny God


Fight with Satan

  1. Our war is not with God – it is Satan

  2. Job lost some battles – not the war.

  3. To get to heaven we must “overcome”

    1. Revelation 21:7; 12:11; 2:10

    2. All 7 letters – to him that overcomes


Conclusion

  1. We must never lose our faith in God

  2. We must not lose, give up, abandon the fight against Satan
