INTRODUCTION:
We studied how Job handled his pain and suffering
We have looked at what Job lost – pain, and suffering
Now we must understand what Job KEPT
Four Things Job Did NOT Lose
Personal integrity / personal righteousness
Not holier-than-thou attitude
He examined his life – noting this bad – no major sins
No murder, adultery, or violation of the commands of God
Listen to Job -
6:10 – not denied God
13:15 – maintain my ways before him
13:18 – I know that I am righteous
23:12 – I have not gone back from his commands
27:5-6 – I will not put away my integrity
Belief in God's Ultimate and Final Righteousness
23:10 – I will come out as pure gold
19:25-27
Redeemer lives
I will live again
After death – I will see God
God will not be a stranger
He did not understand the present situation
But he never lost the ultimate faith in God being good
Belief in the Existence of God
19:25 – I know that my Redeemer lives
In time of pain, trouble, distress – many lose faith in God
“If there is a God, why did He do this to me?”
If God is all-powerful – why the tsunami? Fire? Earthquake?
Psalm 14:1 – fool says there is no god
Romans 1:20 – fools deny God
Fight with Satan
Our war is not with God – it is Satan
Job lost some battles – not the war.
To get to heaven we must “overcome”
Revelation 21:7; 12:11; 2:10
All 7 letters – to him that overcomes
Conclusion
We must never lose our faith in God
We must not lose, give up, abandon the fight against Satan
