INTRODUCTION:

  1. Job suffered much loss

  2. He never sinned or abandoned God

  3. Here are some lessons for us to learn and remember


Faith is the Victory

  1. 1 John 5:4

  2. Job 19:25-27 – Job's faith was his victory

  3. Hebrews 13:6 – Lord is my helper, not fear what man does

  4. We walk by faith – 2 Corinthians 5:7

  5. We are saved by faith – Ephesians 2:8


Faith Comes through Hearing God

  1. Job 42:5 I heard thee

  2. Romans 10:17

  3. John 20:30-31 – written that you might believe

  4. Psalm 119:11 – hid word in my heart, not sin


Never, never accuse God of doing wrong

  1. Job 40:8 – Will you condemn me?

  2. Deuteronomy 32:4 – All his ways are just

  3. Psalm 145:17 – Jehovah is righteous in all his ways


Answer to problem of suffering – not God's love

  1. When God talks with Job – noting about I love you

  2. He does not explain “why” all this happened

  3. God's focus is on power and control

    1. Who created all these things?

    2. Do you know the secrets of the universe?

    3. Not Job! Only God!

  4. When people are suffering, remind them that God is in control.


All suffering is not punitive

  1. Job did not suffer because he was bad, did wrong, being punished

  2. John 9:1-3 – man born blind – who sinned?


Man does not understand everything God does

  1. Deuteronomy 29:29 – secret things belong to God

  2. We can't explain our world, universe

  3. We can't know the mind of God


Problems will come in this life

  1. 2 Timothy 3:12 – godly will suffer persecution

  2. Acts 14:22 – through tribulation we will enter the kingdom of God

  3. John 15:20 – persecuted Jesus, they will do the same to you

  4. 1 Peter 4:12 – do not think it strange, fiery trials


Never Give up!

  1. James 1:12 – blessed – endure temptation

  2. Galatians 6:9 – not be weary in well doing

  3. 1 Corinthians 15:2 – if you hold fast the word preached to you

  4. Revelation 2:10 – be faithful unto death

  5. Luke 21:19 – in patience, you shall win your souls

  6. 2 Timothy 2:12 – if we endure, we shall also reign with him

  7. Job is an example of patience – James 5:11
