TITLE: Avoid Resolutions - 2
TEXT: Revelation 3:14-16
PROPOSITION: Our resolutions must be biblical.
QUESTION: Which?
KEY WORD: Resolutions
SCRIPTURE READING: Same

  1. INTRODUCTION: Part 1 was on resolutions to avoid – for the lost.
  2. Tonight – focus more on Christians.
  1. Serve God and Mammon. Matthew 6:24
Split loyalty means no loyalty to either.
  2. Be lukewarm. Revelation 3:15-16
God would prefer one to be cold (an athiest) than on the fence.
Elijah – How long halt you between two opinions?
  3. Works of the flesh and fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 5:19-26
Flesh and spirit – at war – Can’t be loyal to both sides.
Give in to flesh = hindered from fruit of spirit.
  4. Gossip and practice pure religion. James 1:26
Pure religion and backbiting, gossip, speaking evil of others – not compatible.
  5. Change the rules of worship. John 4:23-24
Many today want to – add entertainment – choir, solo, instruments, skits, plays
    Move Lord’s Supper to Thursday
Many want to change the proper avenues of worship.
  6. Be saved without works. James 2:24
Philippians 2:12 – work out your own salvation
Matthew 7:21 – He that DOES the will of the Father
  7. Refuse to forgive others. Matthew 6:14-15
Our forgiveness is TIED directly to how we forgive others.
This is the litmus test for our forgiveness from God.

I am not saying – Don’t make any resolutions this year.

Even if you don’t keep them long – it is worth the try.

MAKE SURE THE RESOLUTION IS BIBLICAL.
