TITLE: Bible Certainties
TEXT: 1 John 2:1-5

  1. INTRODUCTION: Time of much skepticism – Doubt – Uncertainty
  2. World – Government – Economy – Personal lives – Family
  3. We can be content, happy, satisfied with SPECULATION.
  4. The Bible gives us some Certainties – Things you can count on

We know that our Redeemer Lives – Job 19:25

  1. Christ has come. Died. Raised from the dead. Lives in heaven.
  2. Basis of Gospel story. Remove this = NOTHING!
  3. 1 Corinthians 15:1-3 Gospel preached = D, B. R.
  4. Confucius, Mohammed, Buddha, Moses = All are dead.
  5. He lives to make intercession for us – Hebrews 7:25

We have passed from death to life – 1 John 3:14

  1. Salvation is a transition from death to life.
  2. Sins separated us from God. This is death.
  3. Salvation = New Life, Born Again, Start Over
  4. 2 Corinthians 5:17 we are new creatures in Christ

We know that all things will work for our good. Romans 8:28

  1. Not say – All things are good (pleasant).
  2. God can take lemons and make lemonade.
  3. God can take a vacant lot and build a service station.
  4. God can take me and preach the gospel.
  5. God can take you and serve, teach, influence those around you.

We know that we will have an eternal dwelling with God. 2 Corinthians 5:1

  1. Christians know that death is NOT the end of our existence.
  2. This body may perish – But our soul is eternal. Matthew 10:28
  3. Faithful will live with God for all of eternity.

We know that we will be like Christ. 1 John 3:1-3

  1. We will recognize Christ. We will see him "face to face".
  2. He is coming again. We will see him. Revelation 1:7
  3. He is able to save us in that day. 2 Timothy 1:12
    He is able to keep that which is committed to Him.

Are you certain?

  1. You can know – Faith, Obedience, Service, Worship – where you stand.
  2. You know your current relationship with God.
