TITLE: Courage to Lead

Introduction:

  1. Leadership takes a special kind of courage.
  2. Often the easiest thing to do is NOTHING.
  3. Notice the criteria for Joshua to be a leader.

 

1. Courage to divide.                           (6)

                A. Joshua - divide the land - complaints, unequal, unfair

                B. Jesus - (Matthew 10:32-33)

                C. Stand for truth = Some who disagree will cause division

 

2. Courage to observe the law.                          (7)

                A. Titus 1:9-11 Hold the word, exhort unruly, stop mouths

                B. 2 Thessalonians 3:6 - church discipline

                C. Against false teaching - "Change Agents"

                D. Protect against inroads of denominational error, liberalism

 

3. Courage to Continue On.                              (9)

                A. After the storm, after the smoke clears, after the dust

                B. 1 John 1:7 "keep on walking in the light"

                C. John 8:31 Continue in my word, disciples indeed

                D. Colossians 1:23 If ye continue in the faith

 

4. Courage Against Rebels.                              (18)

                A. Romans 2:8 Contentious and obey not the truth
