TITLE: Created Equal

TEXT: Genesis 1:26-28

INTRODUCTION:

  1. Wizard of Id cartoon – Wizard – "Do you believe all men are created equal?"
  2. The king – "Certainly. But after that they are on their own."

 

All men have the same origin

  1. Adam and Eve – mother of all living
  2. Noah and his family

 

God treats all equally

  1. God gives all a soul (Genesis 2:7)
  2. God loves all men (John 3:16)
  3. God wants all men saved (2 Peter 3:9)
  4. God wants all to hear the gospel (Mark 16:15)

 

All are born ready for heaven

  1. Matthew 18:1-4
  2. Matthew 19:13-14
  3. If we are not ready for heaven at death – What changed?

 

We are free to make choices

  1. In Eden – eat or not eat
  2. The Bible "heart" = intellect, emotion, and will
    1. Intellect – learn, understand, to have knowledge
    2. Emotion – feelings, likes, desires, and ambitions
    3. Will – decision, change course, choose from alternatives
  3. With choice comes consequences of our actions – eat of tree = surely die

 

We are judged by our actions, deeds, and works

  1. Romans 14:10-12
  2. 2 Corinthians 5:10
  3. Revelation 20:12

 

As the king said to the wizard – You are on your own.

  1. You made your choices – consequences follow
  2. Here is the GOOD NEWS!
  3. You can make NEW CHOICES and change the consequences.
    1. Obey gospel – repent, baptism = newness of life
    2. Repent and pray = forgiveness, fresh start

Conclusion:

  1. All of us were created equal.
  2. All of us CAN be re-created equal.
  3. You can end life clean, pure, ready for heaven.
