INTRODUCTION:
- Moses saw the bush and wondered about it.
- He chose to “turn aside” and see.
- God saw his inquiry and began a discussion.
- Some today feel that any question is a form of doubting.
Faith will inquire.
- Moses at the burning bush.
- I am placing my eternal life on what I believe.
- I MUST check it out.
- Faith is not a “leap in the dark”
- Hebrews 11:1 Faith is based on substance and evidence.
Faith demands close inspection.
- Check, test, try
- 1 Thessalonians 5:21 “Test all things, hold to what is
good.”
- 1 John 4:1 “Test the spirits”
- 2 Corinthians 13:5 “Examine yourselves. Test
yourselves.”
Faith Questions
- This is not doubt.
- Jesus asked “Why?”
- We need to double-check.
- We need “assurance” of our faith.
NOW Faith can move to a new level
- Try some new things – mission work, knock doors, teach
class
- Grow, mature
- 2 Peter 1:5 “Add to your faith”
- 2 Peter 3:18 “Grow in grace and knowledge”
