INTRODUCTION:

  1. Moses saw the bush and wondered about it.
  2. He chose to “turn aside” and see.
  3. God saw his inquiry and began a discussion.
  4. Some today feel that any question is a form of doubting.

 

Faith will inquire.

  1. Moses at the burning bush.
  2. I am placing my eternal life on what I believe.
  3. I MUST check it out.
  4. Faith is not a “leap in the dark”
  5. Hebrews 11:1 Faith is based on substance and evidence.

 

Faith demands close inspection.

  1. Check, test, try
  2. 1 Thessalonians 5:21 “Test all things, hold to what is good.”
  3. 1 John 4:1 “Test the spirits”
  4. 2 Corinthians 13:5 “Examine yourselves. Test yourselves.”

 

Faith Questions

  1. This is not doubt.
  2. Jesus asked “Why?”
  3. We need to double-check.
  4. We need “assurance” of our faith.

 

NOW Faith can move to a new level

  1. Try some new things – mission work, knock doors, teach class
  2. Grow, mature
  3. 2 Peter 1:5 “Add to your faith”
  4. 2 Peter 3:18 “Grow in grace and knowledge”
