Text – Those begotten of God have overcome the world.

IF WE HAVE OVERCOME – HOWCOME – SO MUCH OF WORLD REMAINS IN US?

Overcome the world.

1. Broke loose from Satan – accepted and obeyed Christ
2. There is a continuous combat or struggle
   A wrestling in our spirit – Flesh vs. spirit.
   A race to be won – Hebrews 12:1
   A battle to be fought – 2 Timothy 3:4
3. The world is Christ’s territory – We must win it back.
4. Be not overcome – but overcome. Romans 12:20

What is there in this world to ovecome?

1. Fleeting pleasures – 1 John 2:15-17
2. Nothing here is permenant – all is temporary.
3. Sorrows, sufferings
4. Spiritual oppositions – false religions
5. Compromise with the world.

Faith is the Victory

1. Initial victory is faith. Hebrews 11:6
2. Faith in action (James 2:18) – Obey (Acts 5:32)
3. Faith lived, practiced, renewed day by day – 2 Corinthians 4:16
4. Partaking of the divine nature – 2 Peter 1:4

Those who are overcome by the world:

1. Look to the world for comfort. 2 Timothy 4:10
2. Failed to carry enough oil. Matthew 25:1-11
3. Became entangled in the world again. 2 Peter 2:20-22
