  1. INTRODUCTION: Anthropomorphism = Human attributes given to God.
  2. God is spirit (John 4:24) does not have body parts as we do.
  3. God’s eyes, ears, hands, etc. = figure of speech – His ability to see, hear, do, etc.
  4. Think about how the Hand of God is demonstrated.

The Hand of God in Creation

  1. Some atheists in our world today.
  2. Where did the world come from?
  3. God’s voice spoke, His hand moved, His eyes saw it was good.
  4. Psalm 19:1 Heavens declare the glory of God
  5. Psalm 8:3 When I consider the work of your fingers, the moon and stars
  6. God’s Hand also created US, man, from the dust of the ground. Genesis 2:7

The Hand of God in Salvation

  1. God has the power to save. The only one who can save us.
  2. God’s mercy, grace, love, and power (hand) are seen in salvation.
  3. God’s hands are outstretched – open – inviting.
  4. Jesus wanted to gather us under his wing. Matthew 23:37
  5. Hand of God knocks at our door.
  6. God’s hand lifts us from sin to salvation.

The Hand of God in Providence

  1. God’s hand – made us, saves us – sustains us.
  2. With Blessings – General and Specific
    A. General – air, water, food, seasons, etc.
    B. Specific – answer to prayer, healing, support, comfort
  3. With Direction – "Guard, Guide and Direct us" common prayer
  4. God’s hand does this.
  5. Not by miracles – Through His word, Working for our good – Romans 8:28
  6. Psalm 23 He leads me beside still waters, He restores my soul
  7. He leads me in the paths of righteousness
  8. With Fellowship – We walk and talk as good friends should and do
  9. With Correction – out of love and concern

The Hand of God in Punishment

  1. Refuse to believe, not obey, rebellion against God = Punishment
  2. 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 Know not God, obey not the gospel = punished
  3. Hebrews 10:31 "Fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God."
  4. Luke 23:46 "Into thy hands I commend my spirit."
