TITLE:  Learn to Wait
TEXT:  Isaiah 40:28-31
PROPOSITION:  God expects us to be patient while He works.

 INTRODUCTION:

  1. Patience is difficult for us
  2. We are always in a hurry – drive-through food, same day surgery
  3. Microwave – meal in minutes

 Why Does God make us WAIT?

  1. Isaiah 40:28-31 – Renew our strength
  2. Isaiah 30:18 – God waits for us (longsuffering, patient)
  3. Jeremiah 14:22 – We can not make it rain, we MUST wait on God
  4. Hosea 12:6 – Turn to God – depend on Him, can’t do it on our own
  5. Micah 7:7-8 – Teach us dependence on God

Only when we WAIT can we know how to WAIT – Psalm 69:1-3, 6

  1. We must learn to wait – be patient – vs. 3
    Word means – stay, trust, wait, hope
  2. Then we can wait upon (serve) God – vs. 6
    Word means – wait upon, look to needs of, serve

 How does Waiting help us?

  1. Learn that God is in control
  2. Learn that we cannot do it on our own
  3. We need time to calm down, catch our breath, stop being angry
  4. In patience we save our souls – Luke 21:19
