TITLE:  Meek Like Moses
TEXT:  Numbers 12:1-3
PROPOSITION:  Christians should be meek like Moses.

 INTRODUCTION:

  1. The word “Meek” is often confused and misunderstood.
  2. BDB – Hebrew word – Poor, humble, afflicted, meek
  3. Thayer – Greek word – mildness of disposition, gentleness of spirit
  4. Summary – “not easily provoked”; not easily made angry

CHRISTIANS SHOULD PRACTICE MEEKNESS IN:

  1. Seek – Zephaniah 2:3 – Seek Jehovah, all the meek of the earth
  2. Put on – Colossians 3:12-13 – As elect of God, put on --- meekness
  3. Receive the word of God – James 1:21 – Receive with meekness the engrafted
  4. In conduct – James 3:13 – Who is wise among you? Let him show meekness
  5. Answer for their hope with - 1Peter 3:15 – Be ready to give an answer
  6. Show to all men – Titus 3:2 – Showing meekness to all men
  7. Restore the erring with – Galatians 6:1 – Restore such a one in spirit of meek.
  8. Precious in the sight of God – 1 Peter 3:4 – Women have meek and quiet spirit

CHRISTIANS SHOULD:

  1. Practice – 1 Timothy 6:11 – O man of God, follow after meekness
  2. Instruct opposers – 2 Timothy 2:25 – In meekness instructing those who oppose
  3. Urge on others – Titus 3:2 – Put them in mind … show meekness to all men
  4. A part of wisdom – James 3:17 – Wisdom from above is … gentle
  5. Part of our walk – Ephesians 4:1-2 – Walk worthy of the calling with lowliness and meekness

WHEN SHOULD WE BE MEEK?

  1. Under attack – gossip, lied about, false rumors, handling criticism
  2. When teaching others – reach the lost, correct the erring
  3. Living the life of a Christian

THE BOTTOM LINE

  1. To be meek means – I will not be easily provoked
  2. 1 Corinthians 13:5 – Love is not easily provoked
