TEXT: Ezekiel 18:25-29

INTRODUCTION:

  1. Bad things happen – "It isn’t fair."
  2. "Why do bad things happen to good people?"
  3. Implies – Bad things should happen to BAD people.
  4. Story of preacher who skips church to play golf and hits a hole in one. Who can he tell?
  5. Word translated "fair" is from "measure, standard of measurement"
  6. FAIR = equality, equal measurements, leveling (level the playing field)

Are you FAIR with GOD?

  1. Matthew 7:2 – Judgment you use will be used on you
  2. Luke 6:38 – Give and it will be given to you – same measure

Are you FAIR in your FAITH?

  1. Romans 12:3 – God has dealt to each one a measure of faith
  2. How is your faith? Strong, weak, dead, growing, or shrinking

Are you FAIR in your KNOWLEDGE?

  1. Mark 4:24 – How you hear (learn, understand)
  2. John 5:39 – Search the Scriptures
  3. 2 Peter 2:2 – Infants desire the milk of the word
  4. Hebrews 5:12-14 – Are you eating milk or meat?

Are you FAIR with your GIFT?

  1. Ephesians 4:7 – God give power, authority
  2. God gives us talents, abilities, gifts to use –
  3. How are you using what you have?

Are you FAIR when measured against CHRIST?

  1. Ephesians 4:13 – Full measure of stature of Christ

Will your PUNISHMENT be FAIR?

  1. Revelation 18:7 – Focus on self = measure of punishment
  2. Revelation 16:6 – They get what they deserve
