TITLE: In Remembrance of Me
TEXT: 1 Corinthians 11:23-25

  1. INTRODUCTION: The Bible commands "in memory" of Christ.
  2. Our minds tend to wander – other things. What should be remembered?
  3. As you partake think about these memories –
  1. Remember His name
    A. Jesus = Savior
    B. Christ = Anointed One
    C. Lord = Ruler, Master, One control
    D. Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Prince of Peace
    E. Logos = The Word John 1:1-5
  2. Remember His works
    A. Before he came to earth – Creation
    B. While on earth – ministry, miracles, teachings, parables
    C. For redemption – D, B, R = Gospel – Good News
  3. Remember His love
    A. While we were yet sinners
    B. Willing to die for us
  4. Remember His afflictions
    A. He was human – suffered, hurt, pain "Man of sorrows"
    B. Bore the sins of all humanity
  5. Remember His exaltation
    A. He is not dead – "He is risen." Good News
    B. He ascended to Heaven – Right hand of God
    C. Now reigning as King of Kings
  6. Remember His mercies
    A. In contrast to our sinful past – we have a bright future
    B. Think of Grace, Mercy, Goodness, Kindness
  7. Remember His words
    A. Study them, memorize them, apply them
    B. Is the word dwelling richly in you? Colossians 3:16

Conclusion:

  1. In the Lord’s Supper – you are in His presence.
  2. You are with all other believers – joined together.
  3. Make sure it is not a routine, habit, exercise of worship.
