Introduction

1.    Most news is BAD – murder, war, COVID

2.    Understand it is the nature of news to report the unusual

3.    With all the bad news – don’t miss the good news.

1.    The men on the road to Emmaus – Luke 24:15-35

a.    Disciples of Jesus

b.    Sad that he died

c.     Heard news that he was alive

d.    Going home thinking it was an idle tale

2.    What bad news can do

a.    Blur our focus –

                                          i.    Emmaus men could not accept the good news

                                         ii.    What about us?

b.    Blind us to reality –

                                          i.    They knew Jesus,

                                         ii.    But they did not recognize Him

c.     Break our spirit –

                                          i.    depression, fear, anxiety, worry

3.    Keep the good news good

a.    There will always be bad news

b.    Keep your focus on the promises of God

c.     Study the Scriptures

d.    Know the Savior

e.    Fellowship the Saints
