Being Holy Like God
I. God is holy.
A. 1 Peter 1:15a (“The root idea in the word holy is that of
separation. God is separate from all uncleanness and
evil and so free from all defilement” - Raymond C.
Kelcy, The Letters of Peter and Jude 32)
B. Leviticus 11:44a “For I am the Lord your God. You
shall therefore consecrate yourselves, and you shall be
holy; for I am holy.”
C. Psalm 99:5 “Exalt the Lord our God, And worship at
His footstool—He is holy.”
D. Revelation 4:8 “The four living creatures, each having
six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And
they do not rest day or night, saying: ‘Holy, holy, holy,
Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!’”
II. Christians must separate from habitual sin.
A. 1 Peter 1:13-14
B. 1 Peter 4:2-3
C. Ephesians 4:17-19, 22
D. Colossians 3:8-9 “But now you yourselves are to put
off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy
language out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another,
since you have put off the old man with his deeds”
III. Christians are God’s holy people.

IV. Christians are God’s holy nation and house.
A. 1 Peter 2:9
B. 1 Corinthians 3:17
C. Ephesians 2:19-22
